RevTrax® Expands Patent Portfolio to Meet Demands of Increasingly Mobile Retail Technologies

RevTrax® today announced the extension of its digital patent portfolio to include a cross-device validation system for scannable, single-use promotion codes. The patented technology allows for a seamless redemption process through retailers’ existing technology, including increasingly popular mobile redemptions.

The newly issued patent covers delivery, authentication, activation and scanning of secure coupons, gift certificates, vouchers and other offers of value. For retailers, the patented technology supports unique, single-use promotion codes that prohibit multiple redemptions of a single offer. As a result, retailer marketers can better target their online promotions, confidently distribute higher value offers, and protect margins from unanticipated viral couponing activities.

These offers feature unique information translated into a scannable barcode or unique identifier, and upon redemption at the POS, each unique offer is invalidated to prevent any additional redemptions.

The new patent, No. 8978977, contains priority dating back to 1999 and is part of a patent portfolio that remains open for additional continuation filings.
